There are big debates on whether a night job is good or bad for the employee and employer. From the point of view of the employer a night job gives the employer to the work or spend time with family. Night Jobs can mean a lot of freedom and convenience in there personal life. Officially night job is a job that requires an employee to work regularly for at least three hours between 11pm and 6am. Most people see a night job as a headache that causes sleep deprivation. Most people correlate the over consumption of caffeine, disease, and other negative outcomes to working night jobs. Many studies have linked chronic diseases to sleep deprivation, often caused by shifts like these. It is very hard to sleep during the day when the rest of the world is awake and running. With this fact it is understandable how someone can get sick or lose sleep. Although it takes a certain type of individual to work the night shift, night jobs aren’t always so negative. There are many advantages of night jobs for an employee.

Training opportunities present themselves in night jobs. A night job provides the opportunity for training at an additional job. Most of the organizations offer training to their staff during the day. People can make their own arrangements to upgrade their skills using the facility, and advantage of rotational shifts to plan or study for the training programs without taking leave. This particular feature is the most useful for those working in shifts as it gives opportunity to grow professionally without disturbing the leave available, and keeping the balance for real times of need such as; family, holiday, or sickness of family members.

Night Jobs offer great pay, being that the shift takes place when the surroundings may be more dangerous. This forces employers to pay time and a half or double what the pay may be during the day shifts. This is a great opportunity for students that may be in college during the day and need to make some extra cash. A night job is also ideal for an adult that may need extra cash due to the recession, or family expansion. Most individuals would rather work during the day, which make these jobs more in demand.

Night jobs require lesser working hours than a day job. In most cases where a night job is applicable the working hours are less as it consists of adequate breaks and relaxation periods. In regular hours, work spills over to overtime in order to complete the tasks given, while in a night job, the next shift crew takes over and hence eliminates the need of putting extra hours. Working less hours also can give people time to do more things during the day or catch up on sleep. They are great jobs to consider during a night shift like, a security guard, toll collector, hospital shift, convenience store worker, etc.. Night jobs are a great alternative to the norm, and can be very beneficial.
